Before the Spring Signing Period, senior golfers all over the country are working hard to get themselves in front of coaches one last time in an effort to earn a spot on a college roster. The college recruitment process can be scary, but the American Junior Golf Association helps make that process a little easier. Twice a year, the AJGA hosts a Senior Showcase, giving high school seniors who have not already committed to play college golf a chance to play in front of colleges who are still looking to fill their rosters. This past weekend, the AJGA traveled to Innisbrook for the Spring Senior Showcase.

Marisa Hisaki capitalized on her opportunity to play in front of these college coaches. She took the solo-lead on the fourth hole of the tournament, and never looked back. She led the three-day tournament wire-to-wire, claiming an 18-shot victory in the Girls Division. Marisa has several college prospects on her radar, but she is excited at the opportunities playing in events like these give her. College is a big decision, and having a lot of choices makes the decision a little less stressful. In an interview with the AJGA, Marisa said, “I now have a lot more exposure to college coaches, and that’s great.” This marks Marisa’s first win with the AJGA, and what better time for that win to come than in her senior year while in pursuit of her next big thing.

In the Boys Division, Takahiro Nojima claimed a T6 finish at the event for high school seniors. Takahiro carded a 73-75-72–220 to finish just six shots off the lead. Tsukasa Kimishima and David Yang found themselves in a tie for 14th after carding tournament totals of 228.

Congratulations Marisa! We would like to extend a special thanks to the AJGA for hosting a great event at a beautiful course. We are looking forward to the next one!
