UNITED BY A COMMON PASSION FOR JUNIOR GOLF TRAINING & EDUCATION
At the heart of Bishops Gate Golf Academy is the BGGA Advisory Board —an initiative that has helped cultivate an extraordinary cadre of scientific leaders.
The Advisory Board emerged from the notion that nurturing junior golfers during their most creative years will yield a new generation of golfers more rapidly than traditional programs. The BGGA advisory board provides expertise in the areas of Neuroscience, Mental performance, Biomechanics, Health and Athletic Development, Biomechanics, the Learning Sciences and Elite Performance.
“The BGGA Advisory Board was critically important to our student-athletes’ development, and also to my development as a golf coach,” says Kevin Smeltz. “To be an expert in all these areas is impossible but to build the best program possible for our student-athletes Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD), it is imperative to tap into these areas.”
This kind of support enables BGGA coaches to use their time at the Academy to concentrate solely on building a strong development program. In addition, The Advisory Board has the unique opportunity to establish and maintain an independent real life laboratory at BGGA.
To have such a high profile group of board members, the “who’s who” in golf development circles, is truly a blessing and we are so happy to have them. It came about by some of our connections over the years who had other connections in these circles, namely Dr. Fran Pirozzolo and Dr. Rob Neal. Through our relationships with them, it enabled us to have access to the other members, who through the goodness of their hearts and willing to give back, allowed us to have them on our Advisory Board.
In future editions of Coach Connect, we’ll introduce practical applications as well as each member of the BGGA Advisory Board.
