The night of Sunday, November 22, 2015, was this year’s host to “the greatest night in junior golf.” The American Junior Golf Association’s Rolex Banquet is a time when junior golfers from all over the world can come together to celebrate everything that happened this year. The AJGA took special time to honor the Rolex Junior Players of the Year (Philip Barbaree and Hannah O’Sullivan), the Rolex Junior All-America teams, the AJGA Scholastic Junior All-Americans and the Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award winner (Emily Sumner). Bishops Gate Golf Academy was proudly represented on the Rolex Junior All-America Second Team by BGGA senior Ana Paula Valdes and BGGA junior Maria Hoyos. When asked about what it means to be named a Rolex Junior All-American, Maria said, “It is an honor to be given this honor. I want to thank everyone at BGGA for their hard work to help me get better everyday and achieve one of my junior golf dreams.” Ana Paula said, “I have been playing AJGA events for 3 years, and I am excited to earn this honor in my final year. Thank you to everyone at BGGA for helping me become not only a better golfer but also a better person.”

Everyone at BGGA is very proud to have been a part of each of these girls’ journey to earning such a prestigious honor. Maria and Ana Paula have now joined the likes of Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Inbee Park, and Lexi Thompson. Congratulations girls! Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey, and we cannot wait to see where your journey will lead.
