This past weekend, March 7-8, 2015, 12 students from Bishops Gate Golf Academy competed in the Future Collegians World Tour event hosted at Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Five of the BGGA students in attendance finished in the top ten, and three finished in the top three of their respective divisions.
In the Boys 15-19 Division, Marcus Montenegro of Buenos Aires, Argentina finished second thanks to a strong performance in the second round. His one-under-par 69 was the lowest score of the day and included ten par-or better holes, including four birdies. Montenegro improved in every aspect during round two from raising his total number of pars to lowering his total number of bogeys.
Tom Broxup of Leeds, England, brought home fourth place. He played the second round’s front nine to an even par before knocking in a birdie to make the turn at one-under-par. While Tsukasa Kimishima of Fukuoka-Shi, Japan finished in a tie for 20th thanks to two rounds with two birdies each.
In the Boys 12-14 Division, Robin Williams of Peterborough, United Kingdom, came in third. The only player in his Division with a lower score in the second round, Williams carded two birdies and shaved four strokes off his score.
In the Girls Division, Mami Yamamoto of Tokyo, Japan came in third. Taking three strokes off her round on the second day, Yamamoto improved her performance the most on the back nine. She carded eight straight par-or-better holes including a birdie on the back nine. Meanwhile Marisa Hisaki of Osaka, Japan finished 19th in the division. Her score featured back-to-back birdies on holes Nos. 6 & 7.
