Over the Thanksgiving break, 16 players from Bishops Gate Golf Academy played in the International Junior Golf Tour’s Thanksgiving Classic at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The three-day tournament, the penultimate event on the IJGT’s schedule, proved to be one of the toughest tests of the season, with high winds plaguing all three rounds. The high winds only added to the challenge that is the world-famous TPC Sawgrass Stadium course, played rounds one and three. Round two was played on TPC Sawgrass’s Valley course. Despite tricky conditions and one of the more challenging stops on the PGA TOUR, BGGA students claimed ten of the top-20-and-ties spots. Claiming a solo-fourth finish, Taisuke Ono shot a tournament total 13-over-par 229. Taisuke carded two eagles for the tournament. His first was in round two on the par-5 eighth, and his second came in round 3 on the par-5 11th. Just two shots behind Taisuke, sharing a tie for fifth, was Tsukasa Kimishima. Tsukasa shot the lowest round of the tournament in the second round, carding three birdies for a 1-under-par 71. Rounding out the top-10 finishers were Luis Pons and Won Jun Choi, who finished T7 and 10, respectively.

Sharing a tie for 11th were Luigi Paolo Wong and Dong Jin Park, and just one spot behind them were Conor Byrne and Tennoshin Ogawa, who shared a T13 finish. In both rounds one and three, Conor scored par-or-better on the Stadium course’s infamous par-3 17th. Completing the list of top-20 finishers from BGGA, Takahiro Nojima claimed a tie for 17, and Daniel Song claimed a T20 finish.

In the Boys 14&Under Division, Luca Jumbahoy claimed a solo-fifth finish.
